TPE Miniature presents members of the ensemble in solo, duo, and small chamber contexts in a program of diversity and discovery, including premieres of two works created for TPE’s 1 + 1 + 1… a film project – Trikala Jati (for JB) by Curtis Andrews written for percussionist Jonathan Bernard and dancer Sudnya Mulye, and Matthew-John Knight’s Abstraction, a striking staged theatre work composed for bass clarinetist AK Coope. The program also features duets, trios, quartets, and a major quintet from 100 years ago by Sergei Prokofiev. In honour of February Black History Month, two rarely heard works by Undine Smith Moore will be performed – her solo piano tour de force from 1953 Before I’d be a Slave and her spiritual-based Afro-American Suite.
