We welcome Argentinian-Spanish composer and conductor Fabián Panisello to lead Turning Point Ensemble in a bold and dynamic concert featuring chamber concertos. Panisello is a prominent figure in international contemporary music who is artistic director of Madrid’s Plural Ensemble, recognized as one of the most outstanding ensembles for new music in Europe. The concert includes a rare performance of Piano Concerto by Gyorgi Ligeti, one of his most brilliant and virtuosic works, with UBC faculty member Corey Hamm as soloist. In addition, the program includes Panisello’s own Concierto de Cámera, a chamber concerto by UK composer Phillip Cashian and the luminous Gold Leaf by Linda Catlin Smith.
