Heidi Krutzen, Harp

heidi_krutzenA distinguished soloist and chamber musician, Heidi Krutzen has appeared in premiere festivals across North America. Heidi is Principal Harp of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and former Principal Harp of the CBC Radio Orchestra. She is on the faculty of the National Youth Orchestra Canada, and teaches at the UBC School of Music. Her performances and recordings are broadcast regularly on CBC Radio and NPR in the US.

Heidi is a member of Trio Verlaine, with flutist Lorna McGhee and violist David Harding. They have performed throughout the US and Canada together, most recently presenting their newest commission, by iconic Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer, at the World Harp Congress. Trio Verlaine will make their UK debut for BBC Radio 3 in 2012.

Heidi’s newest project Couloir, is a duo with cellist Ariel Barnes. Together they are exploring the possibilities of cello and harp together, commissioning and premiering many new works and embarking on interdisciplinary creations with artists, dancers, DJs, and poets.
