It’s only August, but all eyes are on the fall with the public announcement of Turning Point’s 11/12 season! The production of our brochure (please download a copy from this web-site!), beautifully designed by James Glen with the photography of Chris Randle and Tim Matheson feels like an event itself – but in a way it is. The brochure reflects a vision for which Turning Point feels like it can contribute meaningfully to the cultural strength of our community. You can hear fantastic music-making from the many and diverse musicians who make BC their home, or are visiting to perform, but nowhere else will you be able to hear the combination of masterworks and new compositions from composers close and far, that we will play for our audiences. Last night, I attended a fantastic Early Music/MusicFest production of Purcell’s King Arthur with an all-star performing cast of instrumentalists and vocalists, and though I had long known I wanted to attend, it was also the FOMO. Have you heard of that one? New one to me, I heard last night…the Fear Of Missing Out. I’d rather you not have FOMO as the reason to attend TPE events, but that you look at the brochure, and plan to attend because you’re curious about what you’ll hear, and know that we are going to prepare fantastic music for you with the care you would want shown something very, very valuable. And that’s how we hear the music we program…a rare treasure that we want to share with you to enrich your life and the community that you call home. – Jeremy Berkman
